This is a very simple root method and works on the new update for 2.2 which is 2.2.1. All you have to do is download the Z4root apk from the link...copy and paste the Z4Root file on your SD Card. Then go to the Android Market and download an App Installer. Then open you App Installer and select the Z4Root Apk... If you have not already gone into Settings/Applications and allowed installation of non-market apps...you need to do so before installing. After you install Z4Root using the app installer just simply open the app which is also located in your icon system and select permanent root...be patient it will probably auto reboot and that's pretty much it....You are Rooted!!! Final Note: If you updated from 2.2 to 2.2.1 and were rooted before the update you will become unrooted and will need to select unroot...reboot.... then permanent root using Z4Root. If your updated your droid x to gingerbread update to must flash the sbf file back to stock before update for z4 root to work. 1.download z4root app. search.4shared.com 2.Open z4root and click on temporary root. It should start saying running exploits and saving file. It will tell you when its rooted. If it does not work within first 2-5 minutes back out of the app and try again. 3. Open z4root again and click on permanent root. Its will say the same things such as running exploits and saving file. If it takes a couple minutes don't panic its just taking a little time to install everything.
